THE BIG EXPERIMENT

God is looking for how you will respond

All of creation is waiting eagerly for you - for God’s glory to be revealed through your suffering

Have there been times in your life where you were going through something and you felt out of sorts and you just didn’t know why?

Please watch a 5 minute video clip - https://vimeo.com/355010754

In the clip, the crew members were being experimented on by an unseen enemy, who was applying instruments to the crews’ heads. Oblivious, the crew members continued their duties, unaware of what was going on but feeling the effects. Only the holographic doctor knew what was taking place and one crew member, Seven, who became aware after her optical implant was adjusted. With her “vision” adjusted, she was able to see the invaders that were among her fellow crew members.

“12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6

Your spiritual fight is not against flesh and blood but against unseen forces. These adversarial forces come in various forms - the demonic, the cares of this life, or a loss. Or it could be any anti-christ authority (attitude, mindset, reasonings, belief) that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and disconnects your heart, mind, spirit away from the Father.

As believers, how are we sometimes caught unaware? How are we caught off guard as God’s children? Perhaps we fail to grasp that suffering, trials, adversity in this spiritual walk are a given.

Romans 8:17 - Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

We forget that we are in a spiritual battle and as believers we share in the sufferings of Christ, but God is faithful to comfort and sustain and provide a way out - endurance

5 For just as Christ’s sufferings are ours in abundance [as they overflow to His followers], so also our comfort [our reassurance, our encouragement, our consolation] is abundant through Christ [it is truly more than enough to endure what we must]. 2 Corinthians

Perhaps there have been times you felt like Paul … 9 Indeed, we felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death [and were convinced that we would die]”

2 Corinthians

But why did this happen? Paul goes on to say so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. 10 He rescued us from so great a threat of death, and will continue to rescue us. On Him we have set our hope. And He will again rescue us [from danger and draw us near], 11 while you join in helping us by your prayers.

GOD IS LOOKING FOR HOW WE WILL RESPOND

“18 For I consider [from the standpoint of faith] that the sufferings of the present life are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us! 19 For [even the whole] creation [all nature] waits eagerly for the children of God to be revealed.” Romans 8

All of creation is waiting eagerly for you - for God’s glory to be revealed through your suffering. Will you give into the adversarial forces and energy? Or will you bow down to the Father and stay the spiritual course? Hopefully, your answer is “yes”, even if it means trusting in God to the point like Paul and his shipmates did - surviving the storm and arriving on dry land on broken pieces of the ship. (Acts. 27)

Let Us Pray

Father, no matter the circumstance our rest lies in you. Help us to clearly see and discern what is going on around us and what is taking place in our lives. For you, oh Lord, know exactly how it feels to be human and is able to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations. Therefore Father, may we always “approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”

(Heb 4:16) … In Jesus’ name we pray - AMEN
