MY PURPOSE, HIS COUNSEL

The unfolding of God's purpose begins with every day, familiar things

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you.

In times past, I would often ask God, "Lord, what is my purpose in life? What is my purpose for being here?" My Father's answer to me - "My will is My Word, My Word is My Will".

Purpose often lies in God's counsel as given in His Word and through the guidance of the Spirit.

Psalm 32:8 - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you.

Psalm 73:23-24 - Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to honor and glory.

John 14:26 - But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.

The Hebrew word YA'ATS (pronounced yaw-ats) means to advise, consult, give counsel, counsel, purpose, devise. Hebraically, it is spelled YUD, AYIN, TSADE.

ANCIENT HEBREW PICTOGRAPH - click here to see

The ancient pictograph of the letter YUD is an "arm & hand", meaning- work, throw, make, worship/praise. For the letter AYIN, the pictograph is an "eye", meaning - see, watch, know/knowledge, shade. And the letter TSADE means journey, chase, hunt. It also means "side," and is related to the idea of a stronghold, which is often built on the side of a mountain. The pictograph is a picture of a trail as leading up to a destination or stronghold

Putting it together: Work /make | see /know | journey/trail leading to a destination

So in following the counsel of God, we will see, know the journey and take the trail to a destination

Psalm 119:104-106 (AMP) - From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. I have sworn [an oath] and have confirmed it, That I will keep Your righteous ordinances.

Practice Makes Purpose

The unfolding of God's purpose begins with every day, familiar things. Our Father is loving and He wants us to succeed, but he gives us choices.

Will we confront? Will we make the phone call instead of texting?

Will we do it now or procrastinate?

Will we apologize when wrong, forgive when wronged by others?

In stressful moments, are we patient, kind, humble, giving?

If the answer is "yes" every time, then we are consistently in his will and our lives begin to unfold into the bigger scheme of His purposes.

Luke 18

18"A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”

[PRACTICE]

21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.

[PURPOSE]

22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.

So what is my purpose? The answer for me is to first be an obedient servant to the Most High, to seek, know and follow His counsel, His Word and wait patiently as He continues to unfold his plan for my life according to His purposes for His glory.

Reflections:

Luke 18

23"When he [ruler] heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy."

Is there any "wealthy" thing in your life that is keeping you from God purposes?

28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!” 29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Is there anything that you have "left behind" or given up to follow God's purposes?"
