thirst quencher

We must learn to keep coming to Him to drink

Living waters cannot flow through us until we learn to continuously come and drink of Yeshua.

“Now on the last day of the festival, Hoshana Rabbah, Yeshua stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him keep coming to me and drinking! Whoever puts his trust in me, as the Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from his inmost being!”

John 7:37-38 CJB

Are you flowing with rivers of living waters? In this scripture Yeshua says, If we are thirsty that we should “keep coming” to Him to drink.

The definition of the word “keep” means to continue or cause to continue in a specified condition, position or course.

So, what has your continual position been lately?

  1. Watching my favorite TV shows (with a bag of UTZ potato chips)?
  2. Going shopping with money you do not have?
  3. Having unnecessary conversations with myself and others?

These are all forms of quenching my personal thirst.

We are choosing(obeying) these habits instead of continuing in Him. The one thing that is certain is that we are thirsty, but our flow is blocked by our own desires therefore obedience to Him is not possible.

We must learn to keep coming to Him to drink just like I am drinking my own desires. Nothing should mean more than the time spent with Him. This requires us to trust God with what we think is best in exchange for His will.

Letting go is a continual position or course we must take for the living waters to flow. Surrender is not possible with trust. We find comfort in our own desires because we think we have control, but we must learn to trust in His words and allow them to become our words.

Yeshua must become our example. His words were always living(breathing) and active. His life was about teaching and giving instruction which led to transforming other lives (Living Waters.) This had everything to do with His connection to the Father. Earlier in this same chapter He talked about His connection to His Father. Let’s read it.

“So Yeshua gave them an answer: “My teaching is not my own, it comes from the One who sent me.” John 7:16 CJB

Yeshua made it clear that He was not here on His own accord but from the one who sent Him. He could not have known this unless He spent time with the Father (establishing trust), receiving His instruction and submitting(surrender)through obedience to His purpose.

Living waters cannot flow through us until we learn to continuously come and drink of Yeshua. Which means fellowshipping with Him by sharing our lives, putting everything at His feet, listening for His instruction from his word and walking in obedience.

Is there something blocking your flow of living waters?
